“Great American cutlery should be defined by it’s own terms. A blade that doesn’t pretend to be German or Japanese”
Form Follows Function
Our design ethos is simple. We look at how people work in the kitchen and create tools that make the job easier. We make knives that feel good in the hand and are easy to use instead of easier to produce.
Defining the American Tradition
Our style is inspired by our own rich tradition of knife makers. Our blade shapes don’t always follow convention. They are built to look great, feel great in the hand and deliver razor sharp performance, whatever your style of cooking is.
- HANDCRAFTED WALNUT
Beautiful handles shaped from reclaimed hardwood. Our special burnishing technique and oil rub give them a luster finish.
- DEEP WEDGE DESIGN
Our Chef’s blade is 20% wider at the heel for improved hand clearance and superior cutting motion.
- CROWNED FOR COMFORT
We round the spine and flush every seam to ensure a comfortable grip. We make sure that each knife feels good in our hands before it gets into yours.
- ADVANCED METAL FORMING
Ferrum’s modern forging techniques use powdered metal with greater purity and density for fantastic cutting performance. We have reinvented how knives are made, reducing waste and redefining performance.
- SIXTEEN Degree “Apple Seed” Edge
Each knife is hand sharpened to a razor-sharp 16 degrees. Convex edge geometry provides long-lasting performance.
ELEVATING THE MEANING OF QUALITY
Innovation is the ability to leverage technology to create products which elevate the standard of how the world thinks about quality. Ferrum Technology has been built from the ground up to produce evolutionary metalwork.
As pioneers in the precision manufacturing of medical devices, we’re using new technology and advanced production techniques to unlock previously unattainable design possibilities.
As a result, our products feature the best modern exotic materials and set new limits of build quality, style and performance. Refinements that used to be reserved only for custom knives worth thousands of dollars are standard with every knife we build.
The Oregon Black Walnut used to make our knife handles is reclaimed scrap from our local nut farms. We take the time to use a special burnishing technique and oil rub to give them their luster finish.
